“You can do many different types of work in many different settings.”

I became a social worker because I wanted to do clinical work while fully engaged with social and community issues. I had always been interested in psychology and psychoanalysis, but wanted to do clinical work in the most socially embedded way.

My social work degree allows me to be part of the largest profession of mental health care providers. It helped me found the Baltimore Psychotherapy Institute. It helped me achieve faculty appointments at Johns Hopkins, Smith, and University of Maryland in order to “pass it on.” It’s an incredibly flexible, portable, secure, and in-demand degree.
