Expert Witness Practice/Standard of Care/Foster Care, CA

“Get into social work if you love people and can advocate for the best quality of care for those who need it.”

I began my career as a therapist in 1962, founded a foster care treatment program in 1987, and “retired” in 1999. That’s when I began my work as an expert witness for foster care cases.

One of the most rewarding moments was when we accepted a 6-year-old boy into our foster care program who had failed an adoption. Ten years later, when we started our adoption program, the boy was 16 and his foster parents immediately adopted him. It doesn’t get any better than that!

Being a social worker takes an intense interest in seeing others succeed and the ability to speak out for what you believe. You can go almost anywhere and do most anything related to people. At 72, I still love it.
