Ethics and Professional Review Manager, National Association of Social Workers, Washington, DC
“This is a challenging and exciting time to be a social worker. The needs are great.”
In graduate school, I was offered a scholarship with a gerontology focus. It was there I was introduced to ethics.
Now I provide training to social workers, helping them to practice ethically with high professional standards. It’s rewarding when a seasoned professional says that it was the best ethics training they’ve ever attended.
In addition, I was selected as a future leader during the Social Work Congress 2005. It provided me with a platform to talk about the importance of incorporating ethics into curriculums more comprehensively.
If you have a strong desire to effect positive change and believe that you can make that change happen, you should go into social work. With an MSW, there are numerous opportunities to provide services, work with different populations and work across many business opportunities.
