As a child, I saw hurricanes lift roofs, turn fences into splinters and wondered why people coped with disasters differently. My interest in trauma was born. That’s how I chose my area for practice; and I’ve always liked research and writing.
Today, I am a licensed clinical social worker, psychologist and author. I love the flexibility and respect of working in so many domains – writing, researching, teaching, doing psychotherapy and consulting.

I like seeing people learn, unlearn and re-learn – so they can find fulfillment, growth, bravery and peace. I like it when I’ve finally solved a problem. And I like knowing that I’ve helped. I couldn’t do my work without my education. It informs my understanding in every aspect of my life.
