Geriatric Care Manager and Clinical Therapist, AZ
“I have always had the passion to help others in need. My first job after college involved working with the elderly, and I wanted to stay in this field.”
The elderly are unique because they are extremely vulnerable, yet they get overlooked and misunderstood because people don’t listen to them. I am grateful for the opportunity to be able to make their lives better in many ways – physically, socially and cognitively.
When I chose this field, I soon knew that a dual Master’s Degree would put me at an advantage. With an MS in Gerontology and MSW in Social Work, I can work in a private practice setting and can offer counseling services as a Medicare provider.
Today, I work with the elderly patients and their family members. It’s gratifying knowing that I can help to maintain, and even improve my clients’ quality of life. Often, I develop long-term relationships with the family that extend far beyond the initial intervention.
The satisfaction of helping someone in need is the ultimate personal reward.
