“Every day is rewarding.”
Social work chose me. I have always been interested in human behavior. As a police officer for ten years, I was intrigued by what caused some people to do the things they did.
Seeing people stick with treatment is the best part of my job. I work in a 28-day in-patient substance abuse and mental health facility. People come and go every day. When I leave at the end of the day, I am always concerned that someone will leave treatment. In my field, keeping someone in treatment is a great achievement.
My social work degree provides me with the knowledge, expertise and credentials to perform my job to the fullest extent. It’s a continuous learning process. I am always looking for ways to expand my knowledge via conferences and training seminars.
Salary: $50,000-$59,999
