I became a social worker to help children, youth and families in the school system to overcome problems; to stay in school and out of institutions. The best part of a great day is seeing my clients – children and young people – succeed.

To be a social worker in this field, you need to be loving, caring, and willing to be an advocate and a helper. I love being a social worker and working with children and youth, but if I’d chosen another field it might be teaching or psychology – anyone who helps people.

Social Work is a broad field and you can do anything as a social worker as you progress in your career. Having a social work degree gives you a well-rounded education to do any kind of job in the social service field.
