“Rather than a problem solver, I am a catalyst.”
I believe it takes a great deal of patience and a high regard for the dignity of others to be a social worker. That includes respecting the freedom of people to have their own beliefs and live their lives to their full potential. Rather than a problem solver, I am a catalyst.
My work in the hospital treatment of chemical dependency led me to the specialty of Employee Assistance; I saw great value in workplace interventions.
The best part of my job is when the people I am working with tell me that they have become more effective in their ability to resolve personal and occupational challenges When I was asked to travel overseas to establish the Motorola Employee Assistance Progam in Asia, I found myself in situations where I could really apply my skills and knowledge, including disasters and civil unrest.
