Social Work Supervisor, Child Welfare, CT

“I have always wanted to keep children safe. I fight the good fight and am satisfied I’ve improved the lives of many.”

For twelve years, I’ve served the children and families of Greater Bridgeport, working and supervising in a wide variety of assignments. What I like about social work is the “person in environment” framework. Sometimes, it’s not just the person that requires “tweaking;” sometimes the system needs tweaking too.

I also teach a course at a local university where the students go from initially processing a new theory or concept to brainstorming like a real clinical team. That’s rewarding. But a great day is when my team actually helps our clients.

My advice: Get credentialed, and seek your MSW/ACSW. A degree adds to your credibility and provides a common language to assist in helping other professionals. And understand the law which dictates your practice. You’ll be surprised how many don’t!
